Athlete of the Week: Malcolm Dawson

   By Kaylee Griffin

Senior Malcolm Dawson was named Greene Central’s Athlete of the Week for the first week in January.
Dawson was nominated by his Men’s Varsity Basketball coach, Demeco Heath, for his amazing dedication to the team.
Dawson, who has been playing basketball since he was five, says “My favorite part about basketball is the winning and the hustling.”
“I enjoy basketball because it teaches me how to play with a team,” said Dawson.
“I got interested in basketball the day I was born, my dad put a basketball in my hand as soon as I came into the world,” joked Dawson.
“To be a good basketball player you have to have a good work ethic,” commented Dawson.
Dawson is currently enrolled in Foods I, English 12, Spanish II, and Business Law.
Dawson is a member of FBLA and played on the Varsity Football team in the fall.
Dawson is also involved in many community service projects sponsored by FBLA.
Dawson’s plans for the future are to continue playing basketball. He plans to attend Campbell University and major in sports management.
He is the son of Ervin Dawson and Lorretta Bynum of Snow Hill.
